Good Day SMS Parents & Guardians,

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! We had a great time at our Halloween Dance on Friday! It was fun to see so many of our students dressed up, enjoying time with their friends, and having a good time. I think some of our staff may have had just as much fun with their costumes!

It's hard to believe how quickly the first quarter flew by! We are excited to kick off the second quarter and continue building on the great things happening at South. We have a shorter week ahead, with Parent-Teacher Conferences on Wednesday and Thursday, followed by a well-deserved three-day weekend for our students and staff.

Winter Sports Start this Week
This past week, our middle school coaches met with students to share information about the upcoming seasons and opportunities to get involved.
  • 🤼 Girls and Boys Wrestling: Practices are already underway, but it's not too late to join! Additional information can be found below.
  • 🏀 7th & 8th Grade Girls Basketball: Tryouts begin tomorrow, Monday, October 19.
  • 🏀 7th & 8th Grade Boys Basketball: Tryouts will begin on November 9.

Parent-Teacher Conferences
Parent-Teacher Conferences are this week! We would love to see our families in the building and have an opportunity to visit about your student's progress as we wrap up the first quarter. If you are unable to attend but have questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to your student's teachers through email or ParentSquare. We are always happy to connect and work together to support our kids!

Conference days & times can be found in the Events This Week section below.

First-quarter grade cards will also be available for pickup during conferences. Any grade cards not picked up will be mailed home.

No School Friday!
As a reminder, there will be no school on Friday, October 23, following our Parent-Teacher Conferences on Wednesday and Thursday.

We look forward to welcoming many of our families into the building this week! Thank you for your continued support and partnership in making South a place where our students can learn, grow, and belong.

Here's to a great start to the second quarter! Have a fantastic week, Eagles!

Warm Regards,
Mr. Williams
