Believe it or not, we are already just three weeks away from the end of the first quarter! As we head into these final weeks, now is a great time to check in with your student about their grades and make sure they are finishing the quarter strong. First-quarter grades are especially important for our 7th and 8th grade students, as they can impact eligibility and participation in extracurricular and co-curricular activities. If your student is struggling in a class, please encourage them to connect with their teacher and take advantage of tutoring and other supports available at South. We want to work together to make sure every student has the opportunity to finish the quarter successfully!

We are incredibly fortunate to have such an outstanding custodial team at South! Day in and day out, this crew works behind the scenes to make sure our building is clean, safe, and ready for our students and staff. Their work often happens without much recognition, but it certainly does not go unnoticed. A special shout-out to Justin Lane, who never hesitates to answer a radio call, jump in wherever he is needed, and always keeps the well-being of our students and staff at the forefront. That willingness to serve is a great reflection of our entire custodial team. Justin, Kellar, John, Julianna, Eric, and Valeria, thank you for the pride you take in our building and for everything you do for SMS. We appreciate you!

This week, we will begin our second WIN cycle of the year. WIN time gives us an opportunity to provide students with targeted support or enrichment based on their individual learning needs. Students may see a change in where they report during WIN as we begin this new cycle. We are excited to continue using this time to meet our students where they are and help them grow!
